Dr. Srirup Chatterjee is the Chief Cardiac Surgeon at The Mission Hospital, Durgapur, with extensive experience in Cardio Thoracic and Vascular Surgery. He holds MBBS, MS, and FRCS qualifications and has undergone advanced cardiac surgical training in the United Kingdom under renowned cardiac surgeons Sir Donald Ross and Sir Magdi Yacoub.
Dr. Chatterjee has been leading cardiac surgical services in India since 1989, initially in Pune and subsequently in Kolkata from 1996. Over the course of his distinguished career, he has performed more than 20,000 heart operations, reflecting extensive experience in complex and advanced cardiac surgery.
His professional experience includes serving as Cardiac Surgeon at Ruby Hall Clinic, Pune; Chief Cardiac Surgeon at B.M. Birla Heart Research Centre, Suraksha Hospital, and Apollo Gleneagles Hospital, Kolkata; Consultant Cardiac Surgeon at Ruby General Hospital, Woodlands Hospital, and Gamma Centauri Hospital, Kolkata; and Director of Cardiac Surgery at B.M. Birla Heart Research Centre.
Dr. Chatterjee has been a pioneer in Off-Pump Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (OPCAB) and Total Arterial CABG. His areas of special expertise include complex and high-risk cardiac surgery, including CABG in patients with poor ventricular function, left ventricular aneurysm surgery, and aortic root surgery.
In valvular heart disease, he has particular expertise in valve repair procedures and the Ross operation. He also has a special interest in paediatric cardiac surgery and has extensive experience in treating children with complex cardiac conditions.
